EASI ZERo at Net Zero Tech: Showcasing Progress Toward Sustainable Construction

At the beginning of June, EASI ZERo participated in NET ZERO TECH 2025 in Barcelona, one of Europe’s leading events for sustainable innovation in the built environment. Our project was represented by Marco Mori from EASI ZERo partner LEITAT.

During his presentation, Marco highlighted the progress EASI ZERo is making in advancing eco-design and sustainability in the construction sector. The session focused on several core aspects of our project:

  • Real-world demonstration: EASI ZERo’s innovative products are currently being tested and validated in pilot buildings located across Europe, including sites in Norway, France, and Germany. These pilots provide invaluable data on product performance and environmental impact in diverse climates and building types.
  • Measurable impact: Preliminary results from our pilot renovations are promising, with data showing a nearly 18% reduction in heating demand. This is a significant step toward achieving net zero energy performance in existing buildings.
  • Material innovation: EASI ZERo is developing and implementing next-generation construction materials, such as mycelium-based panels, bio-based insulation foams, wood-fibre solutions, and low-impact paints designed to improve indoor air quality and reduce embodied carbon.
  • Circularity and lifecycle thinking: A core part of the project’s approach is integrating circular design principles and conducting comprehensive life cycle assessments. This ensures that sustainability is considered from the initial design phase through to building operation, renovation, and eventual end-of-life.

Beyond the presentation, LEITAT also hosted an EASI ZERo booth throughout the event, offering attendees an opportunity to learn more about our project’s goals, methods, and early results. The conference proved to be an excellent platform for connecting with other innovators, exchanging knowledge, and discussing pathways to accelerate Europe’s transition to energy-efficient and low-carbon buildings.

Thank you to Marco Mori for his insightful presentation, as well as to everyone who visited our booth or participated in the session.
