Moving into the final year of innovation
On June 17-18, 2025, all 16 partners in the EASI ZERo project convened in Barcelona, Spain, for our latest consortium meeting. The event, kindly hosted by Leitat Technological Center and INDRESMAT, marked an important milestone as we move into the final year of our Horizon Europe initiative.
Pioneering Sustainable Renovation Solutions
EASI ZERo is pioneering the development of an integrated component system for building renovation—bringing together a portfolio of low-carbon materials and innovative technologies. Among our solutions are bio-based and recycled insulation panels, high-performance window systems, advanced thermal renders and bricks, VOC-removing paints, and circular design features such as easy disassembly and component reuse. These products are designed to make energy renovation not just more efficient, but also more sustainable and future-proof.
At this stage of the project, EASI ZERo has transitioned from product development and optimization to the critical phase of full-scale testing and demonstration. Partners shared results from ongoing material and component development, while also highlighting progress in testing these innovations in building mockups and through advanced simulations on use-case scenarios. This rigorous validation ensures our low-carbon solutions for energy renovation are both practical and high-performing.
Exchanging knowledge with sister project, INBUILT
A special highlight of the meeting was a dynamic cross-presentation with our sister project, INBUILT.
Like EASI ZERo, INBUILT is funded by Horizon Europe and is dedicated to minimizing the carbon footprint of buildings across their entire lifecycle. Their work centers on scaling up and demonstrating 10 innovative products and systems to enable greener, more sustainable construction. The exchange brought valuable insights and fostered new connections between the two consortia.
Stay tuned! Knowledge-Sharing and Engagement in Focus
Another major focus discussed at the meeting is the intensification of knowledge-sharing, communication, and stakeholder engagement activities. The goal is to ensure that the project’s results and know-how reach the wider building sector, empowering industry players to adopt and benefit from EASI ZERo's sustainable renovation solutions.
As EASI ZERo enters its final and most impactful year, stay tuned for more updates and information about upcoming stakeholder workshops. Together, we are advancing towards real-world implementation and a more sustainable future for Europe’s buildings.
