PRODUCT DEEP DIVE: Bio-based PUR Foam
Can plant-derived materials replace conventional insulation and move us towards a more sustainable future? The focus of this edition of our product deep dive series is bio-based PUR foam, developed by EASI ZERo partner INDRESMAT® with support from Leitat Technological Center.
What is it
Bio-based PUR foam is an insulation material that replaces 60-75% of petroleum-based components with plant-derived ones. This lightweight sprayable foam achieves excellent thermal performance (0.022 kW/m.K) and is a more sustainable alternative to conventional synthetic products.
Applications
- Sprayable thermal insulation for walls and cavities
- Versatile application in difficult-to-reach areas
Environmental benefits
- Lower carbon footprint: Contains up to 75% bio-based content, reducing fossil resource dependency
- Improved end-of-life options
- Enhanced efficiency: Low-density formula uses less material while maintaining performance
- Circular approach: Will incorporate recycled materials in the manufacturing process
The sprayable foam ensures quick application and will improve the overall building envelope performance.
